Family Support Group for ADHD/Autism/Anxiety

Each month, the Pitt Meadows Community Association (PMCA), in partnership with the Fraser Valley Autism Society(FVAS), hosts a local support group for parents, caregivers and stakeholders in its office space in Osprey Village. This meeting takes place on the first Wednesday of each month and is facilitated by long-time parent advocate, Virginia Renaud founder of the FVAS. These meetings are aimed at teaching behaviour  management and parenting skills that are specific to families dealing with challenging behaviour. First time guests and members of PMCA or FVAS attend free. ($2 drop in fee for non-members).

Saturday March 31 - Teach your child to sleep through the night for 10-12 hours and take great naps

10:30am - 12pm - Ages 6 months to 2 1/2 years

1pm - 2:30pm - Ages 3 years to 5 years

Youth Writers Workshop with Gordon Kirkland

Starting Saturday April 14, 2012 - Open to youth from 12 to 16 years of age.

Gordon Kirkland will guide the youth through story writing including setting the scene, creating characters, bringing characters and scene together and plotting the story.  He will also talk about taking their writing forward. This workshop will require the participants to work on their stories between sessions.

The participants will have the opportunity to have their stories published in the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Times Newspaper and on Pitt Meadows Today (on-line newspaper)

Dates: April 14 - 9am to 12pm; April 28 - 10am to 12pm; May 12 - 10am to 12pm;        May 26 - 9am to 12pm.

Cost: $35 for members; $50 for non-members. Space is limited for this event.

Ol' Fashioned Pitt Meadows Carnival

Sunday May 27, 10am -4pm. Come out and enjoy a pancake breakfast, free ice skating sessions, hot dog eating contest, pie throwing contest, live music and much more.

A partnership with the PMCA, Pitt Meadows Arena Complex, Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows, Envisional Financial, Pitt Meadows Museum.
